TradingRooms™ is a product created by RAIN Platforms to help simplify trading by introducing automated trading to the retail segment. It is India’s first automated social investing and trading platform.

The Problems with Do-It-Yourself (DIY), Discretionary Trading

If you have ever traded before, you know that it’s a difficult and stressful activity. Trading is not only a zero-sum game — it’s a negative sum game, meaning, statistically speaking, most traders are expected to lose money.

And yet, there is a strong case to be made for trading, especially active trading. If you’re not satisfied with the returns provided by passive investing products, active trading provides you with the opportunity to generate aggressive, outsized returns.

However, most of us have full-time jobs which prevent us from actively participating with the stock markets. In India, the markets are open from 9:15am — 3:30pm, which is of course when we are expected to show up to work. How do we actively participate with the stock markets when we are not able to dedicate the right amount of time, energy, and resources towards the activity?

That’s where TradingRooms™ enters the picture.

The Solution: TradingRooms™

Automated trading simply means that trades are being taken on your brokerage account in a fully automated manner.

With TradingRooms™, you can subscribe to expert traders (and investors!) by subscribing to their Rooms. You can then link your existing brokerage account and voila, the trades being pushed out by the expert (known as a Room Owner) on their respective Rooms are taken on your brokerage account as well!

Each Room is unique and different. For example,

  • Some are using algorithmic strategies, while the rest are simply trading in a discretionary manner
  • Some are trading equities, others are trading futures, others are trading options, and some are trading a combination!
  • Some are trading intraday, others are doing long-term investing, and there are Rooms for everything in between

You may be thinking: this all sounds great, but how does TradingRooms™ actually solve the difficulties and pain points of discretionary, DIY trading?
Let’s find out.

How TradingRooms™ Solves The Problems Associated with DIY Trading

Here are a few ways TradingRooms™ solves pain points associated with DIY, discretionary trading.

Time

Instead of spending valuable time taking trades manually and by yourself (that too, right smack in the middle of the workday), TradingRooms™ leverages the power of automation and frees up your time. Use that time to do literally anything — learn a new instrument, read a book, or spend more hours at your day job!

Accuracy

Since the trades are automatically taken, latency isn’t an issue with TradingRooms™. Whenever the Room Owner fires a trading signal, the trade is instantaneously taken on your brokerage account (either via 1-click-execution or auto-trading). This is especially valuable for anyone who is used to receiving trading recommendations via Whatsapp/Telegram, IFA’s, etc.

Optionality

Let’s face it — do you really consider yourself the best trader you know? If life, we are used to leaning on experts. I don’t navigate myself when I go to a new destination; instead, I let Google Maps do the work for me. And yet with trading, we have been forced into thinking that we are the best traders we know, when in reality, there are expert traders who can probably trade much better than you! TradingRooms™ connects these expert traders with you and gives you more optionality when it comes to how you want to actively participate with the markets.

The bottom line

With automated trading, you have the option of greatly simplifying your active trading needs and freeing up your valuable time. With TradingRooms™, you not only get to automate your trades, but you can let the experts do the difficult task of determining what trades to take.

About RAIN Platforms

In 2015, both Raghu Kumar and Harsh Agarwal, the founders of RAIN Platforms, were featured in India’s Forbes 30 under 30 India list.

Raghu won the award for his work with Upstox, the leading stock brokerage. Harsh won the award for his work with AGacquisitions, which at the time was one of India’s leading offshore hedge funds.

At the awards ceremony, they shared their contact information — after all, they were the only winners coming from the fin-tech space! Four years later, their efforts were to be paid off.

In 2019, the two decided to team up and start a revolutionary company together. They named the company RAIN, and formally, as RAIN Platforms Incorporated. The motivation for starting the company was simple: they wanted to address pain points they each faced with their respective first companies.

Rain and waterfall has long been associated with prosperity in both the East and West (think about “making it rain”). In India, the monsoon rains are a direct indicator for economic growth in the country.

Mission

RAIN is on a mission to re-imagine how the world interacts with the financial markets. We build, own and operate fin-tech platforms which enable socially enabled investing and trading platforms. We focus on creating cutting-edge automated trading and light touch gamified solutions.
